His Bridal Party

Jason Lau
Best Man & Best Friend

Harro Everyone! Thanks for visiting this beautifully designed website and taking your time to read these delightful tidbits that the five of us have conjured up to describe our wacky relationships with the man of the hour.  Here we go!

It all started in the fall of 1993.  First day at Denlow Public School.  A cold cut sandwich.  Minute maid apple juice box. Ninja turtle back pack.  Green track pants.  It’s hard to pinpoint how it all actually happened now, but when you’re in a classroom of thirty or so snotty brats, being the new kid on the block and fashioning a 1990s style Asian bowl cut, I needed to make a new friend, and I needed to make one fast.  Call it Asians sticking together or whatever you like but I became friends with the tallest kid in class.

21 years later, that decision will still rank as one of the best ones that I have and I will ever make.  I’ve been fortunate enough to experience all of my life’s best memories with Sir Antonius (I’ve never even called you that before, but I digress). Anthony is a founding member and a pivotal first alphabet letter needed to form the J-A team!  He has an obsession with frozen pot pies and most late night frozen ovenables for that matter.  He likes to sleep but he LOVES to nap.  Lastly, if we’re on our way home from school or to the gym or wherever we’re going and sitting in a car with the radio volume on high and then the chorus of a certain song comes on and he begins to snap his fingers (you know what I’m talking about – Daniel Powter – Bad Day J), you know he’s good to go and ready to boogie!

These qualities are what make Anthony the man he is.  He is the epitome of what we all look for in a best friend.  Humble.  Responsible.  Dependable.  Supportive.  Selfless.  I am extremely honored and proud that you have chosen me to be the best man on your wedding day and I am equally honored and proud to say that you are my best friend. May 30, 2015 – this day cannot come any sooner.  There is no bigger supporter of your soon to be marriage to Rachel than me. Steven Kung
Groomsman
& "the jock" Little Brother

Anthony Kung AKA The Friendly Giant, Tones, Poo Man, Daddy Long Legs, Wing Lai, and my favourite “THE HORSE MAN”, not because he is HUNG like a horse but more so due to his stallion like legs even though he barely sets foot into the gym.

For those of you who don’t know, I am the baby of the family and I live and breathe sports.  Our “beauty” of a father gave each of us the gift of athleticism.  Anthony was always praised for being responsible, smart, social, respectful, organized, etc.; the things an “OLDER BROTHER” should be.  However, when it came to sports (especially volleyball) Anthony was always seen as the “YOUNGER BROTHER” because he managed to make things look a tad bit awkward, and to top it off he would constantly be side lined due to muscle cramps :p  I guess high intensity, explosive sports may not have been his real calling; however, when he steps onto the softball diamond everyone better back up because he is known as “HOME RUN KUNG.”

No matter what sport he plays I am grateful that Rachel will be his #1 fan (even though we may poke fun at him behind his back).   With that being said, Rachel is LUCKY to be marrying my STALLION of a brother….giddy up buddy!

David Kung
Groomsman
& "adventurous" Big Brother

I must say how lucky for our family that the middle child was Anthony. Rewinding back to our childhood, Anthony and I had our share of battles and arguments. We were both very competitive and didn't like to lose or back down in an opportunity to prove the other wrong. The amount of picking on each other's words and saying "that's not what I mean but that's what you said" allowed me to appreciate why we were brothers and why he became an engineer. (Those of you who've gotten into a "heated discussion" with him regarding game rules, systematic design or logical thought processes know what I am talking about.)

Engineering suits him well and I am proud of him for all his accomplishments including and not limited to his decision to marry our future sister-in-law, Rachel. I hope Anthony can appreciate the lack of using absolutes because we both know there are always exceptions... most of the time. The worst part for Anthony was his additional string of quarrels with our other brother Steven as well. At times, he would have just finished a verbal siege with me before starting another one with our youngest brother. I guess that's what they call tough brotherly love!

Although I have made it sound like we fought all the time, the need for Anthony to navigate between the differences in personalities from me to Steven to my parents resulted in my brother being the kindest and most considerate person I know. He's definitely got a big heart and I love him for that. I am proud to be his brother and wouldn't trade him in for anything. (e.g. a sister, twin siblings or a luxurious car). Thank you for the priceless memories and the invaluable bond Anthony Dai Wing Kung - the "middle" child. To this end, I wish Anthony and Rachel everlasting happiness, robust health and a family as great as our own. Cheers to you both! - Big Bro

Albert Wong
Groomsman
& the "affectionate drunk" Friend

Anthony, my first friend in university, has always had the kindest heart of gold. Sitting in class as a shy and intimidated first year student, Anthony reached out and related to me with something as simple as our matching green plaid three-ring holed pencil case and matching CESA (Chinese Engineering Students Association) black folder. I thought this would be the only time that I would ever bump into Anthony again, as the campus was so large, but little did I know he would become one of my best friends.

After over a decade, I am still grateful to have such an extraordinary friend in my life. Having shared such fond memories, I will never forget staying up late till the wee hours of the morning to cram for exams (only to both fail them in the end), throwing anything within arm’s reach at Anthony to wake him up when he would decide to take a 3-hour “power nap”, late night eats at New Ho King (and in Anthony’s thoughtful nature believed that I was malnourished and forced me to eat until I threw up), and of course Anthony’s “rational” road rage stories. Looking back, these are all memories that still bring a smile to my face. But how could I forget one of the most important memories of all – finding love.

Anthony and Rachel are two of the most incredibly outgoing and compassionate people. The two of you completely complement each other and everyone can see the thoughtfulness that you two have for one another. With Anthony’s prince-charming and chivalrous nature, I undoubtedly know that this marriage will be something special that will last a lifetime. I cannot wait to celebrate with the both of you on May 30th. Love ya both!

Kenny Leung
Groomsman
& the "life of the party" Friend

Anthony and I met in junior high, when I was the new awkward kid in town and his bangs were freshly bleached like the sun. I was a wannabe skater boy and he ran with a crew of A-class bullies. Point is, we’ve both come a long way and we’ve known each other a long time.

Anthony and I are similar in many ways; we are both systematic robots in the way we articulate our thoughts, we love socializing and we love “laying everything out on the table”. If you’ve ever spoken to anyone in our group of friends, you will know we only have two voices to express ourselves in times of disbelief and irony: the Kenny a.k.a. Napoleon Dynamite and the Anthony a.k.a. Cosmo Kramer. We are the same, yet so different. He is by far more caring, down to earth and a better family man/friend than I can ever be. He’s the big brother I’ve never had.

I am ecstatic and honored to have been asked to be his Groomsman and can’t be happier to see him start his life with his beautiful bride-to-be – also my Arch Nemesis (inside joke). And with that, I will close with a few of my favourite A-Man stories for your enjoyment:
